Historic Salem, Inc.hosted its first Heritage Days 5K race in 2009. In just three years, it has become a popular annual event and part of Salem’s Heritage Days celebration—a week-long festival with events highlighting Salem’s distinguished history over the past 384 years. The course traditionally takes runners through some of Salem’s most historic neighborhoods and waterfront properties.
Thanks to our 2011 race director, Michele Washburn, and to our sponsors: Salem Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department; Historic New England; RedStar World Wear; Road ID; Salem Maritime National Historic Site; and Whole Foods Swampscott.
Proceeds from the race are used for ongoing preservation work within the Salem community.
