Join us for this year’s Annual Meeting for members of Historic Salem, Inc. This yearly gathering offers an opportunity to connect with fellow members, meet HSI staff and board leadership, and hear about the work that has shaped Salem’s preservation efforts over the past year.

We will review key accomplishments, share updates on current advocacy and preservation initiatives, and look ahead to the opportunities and challenges facing Salem’s historic resources. Members will participate in the election and welcoming of new leadership who will help guide HSI’s work in the year ahead.

Whether you have been involved with HSI for many years or have recently joined, the Annual Meeting is a chance to come together as a community of preservation advocates and celebrate the collective efforts that help protect Salem’s historic character.

After the reception, members are welcome to attend a special Salem 400 conversation hosted by Historic Salem, Inc.

A Salem 400 Conversation:
The New Urban Fabric: Balancing Growth and Heritage

Urban planning today looks very different than it did even twenty-five years ago, shaped by shifting demographics and a nationwide housing shortage. In this changing landscape, communities like Salem are grappling with an important question: how do we preserve the historic fabric and character of older cities while also responding to the pressures of growth? Join HSI at the historic Hawthorne Hotel in downtown Salem for a conversation that explores the evolving relationship between development and preservation—and what it may mean for Salem’s future.

HOST
David Dixon | Vice President, Urban Places, Stantec

PANELISTS
Steven G. Gerrard | Principal, Annum Architects
Mark Pasnik | Founding Partner & Architect, OverUnder
Sarah Scott | Senior Regional Land Use and Historic Preservation Planner for Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC)

Members may attend this program at no cost but must RSVP in advance. When registering for the Annual Meeting, you will have the option to add this conversation to your reservation
