Historic Salem, Inc. has distributed a series of letters and supporting materials to the Mayor, City Council, Planning Department, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Salem Redevelopment Authority, Design Review Board, Salem Historical Commission, and community decision-makers regarding the proposed redevelopment of Shetland Park.
The documents below include HSI’s project overview, a comparative study of waterfront redevelopment projects in other New England coastal communities, and correspondence outlining important concerns related to scale, density, infrastructure capacity, climate resilience, and neighborhood impacts. Together, these materials are intended to inform public discussion as the City considers future zoning and development decisions for this significant waterfront site.
