NOMINATIONS OPEN THROUGH JULY 15, 2025
Salem, MA — Each year, Historic Salem, Inc. (HSI) invites the Salem community to help identify and honor outstanding examples of historic preservation throughout our city. HSI is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Preservation Awards.
Award recipients will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at HSI’s Preservation Awards event to be held at Salem High School. We encourage Salem residents to explore their neighborhoods and the city at large for recently completed projects that reflect a commitment to preserving Salem’s rich heritage. Eligible nominations may include private, public, or non-profit initiatives, and can range from residential to commercial projects, from handcrafted efforts to large-scale restorations. Self-nominations are welcome. Consider nominating projects that demonstrate:
- High-quality renovation and preservation of residential or commercial properties
- Expert craftsmanship in fences, arbors, garden houses, and historic landscaping
- Exceptional stewardship, going beyond basic maintenance to preserve historic integrity
- Notable contributions by preservation advocates and community leaders
- Renewal or rehabilitation of abandoned or disaster-damaged historic properties
Historic Salem, Inc. is also accepting nominations for the Nathaniel Bowditch Award which honors individuals or teams who have made outstanding contributions to preserving Salem’s historic and cultural heritage. Named for the renowned navigator and mathematician, the award celebrates both singular achievements and lifetime dedication to preservation.
